CryptoLocker is malicious software (malware) that makes data on your computer (documents, pictures, music, etc.,) unreadable by encryption.
The malware then demands payment to unencrypt your data to the tune of several hundred dollars. To make matters worse, it puts a deadline on how long you have to pay the ransom.
CryptoLocker affects Windows computers finding its way into your data via an email attachment. “Anti-virus software is good, but it’s no longer enough,” said Lance Reichenberger, CEO and President of Trinity Networx, LLC.
“The CryptoLocker virus and the other 49 million new strains of merciless malware have the potential of shutting down your system for hours or days at a time,” continued Mr. Reichenberger, “What is needed is a solution that will mitigate risk and reduce the chance of downtime even when a virus strikes.”
